Pneumonia: Diagnosis, Treatment and Prevention
Visiting a physician in order to get a physical exam is the first way to evaluate someone if he is not sure about his respiratory system, says Dr. Deepa Sharma, Family Medicine Physician with Baptist Health Primary Care.
The specialist also explains that physicians listen to the patients’ lungs and order a chest x-Ray if necessary to confirm the presence of a pneumonia. It is an infection that anybody can get, but patients over the age of 65, with diabetes, heart disease, asthma or lungs disease are at the highest risk to develop pneumonia, she affirms.
She states there are two pneumonia vaccines available.
