HPV: Types of Warts
Dr. Alberto Sirven, Medical Director of the West Kendall OB/GYN Program and Women and Infant Credentials Committee Chairman with West Kendall Baptist Hospital, explains Human Papillomavirus (HPV) has different types of warts. “There are the venereal warts which are the benign papillomas, and there are the ones that are called malignant lesions that don’t show warts.”
Some types of warts are genital, common, plantar and flat warts. Sirven says the genital warts are the ones more associated with the HPV vaccine, and the common warts are associated with other virus that are not necessarily HPV-related, but they are viral.
